A Great Day

My kids function best when we have a lot to do. The fighting is minimized, the complaining is minimized; therefore, my patience is maximized. Yesterday, we planned a busy day and had a great time.

We began yesterday morning meeting up with a friend that I teach with. Corina and I eat lunch together every day at school, so we are able to get constant updates about each other's lives. Well, we have gone weeks without our lunches so we had much to talk about. We met at a park, and the kids played tennis, baseball, basketball, and played on the playground. In between getting them snacks and pushing them on the swing, Corina and I were able to begin the "catching up" process that will not fully be complete until school starts. ?(Even then, we never have enough time to get all our chatting done!) Here are all the kids on the playground.
We scurried off at about lunchtime and came home and created a mac and cheese feast. We relaxed for a short time, then my friend Gina came by to pick up my crib that she helped me sell to a friend. I said goodbye to my crib and got the boys ready for our next stop.

Next, we headed to the doctor's office for a regular check up for Brendan. He is officially over the 4ft mark and is closing in on 60 pounds (57 pounds). I inquired about the marble watch, and the doctor was unaffected. If we haven't seen symptoms, he is fine. Good news! Overall, he looks perfectly fine- The doctor did suggest we get an update on his Chicken Pox vaccine, but Brendan was having no part of that, so we put it off for now. (Have any of you done this updated shot??)

We then rapidly headed to the pool; it was hot yesterday! We swam for an hour and a half at the pool, then the pool closes for dinner. Chris came and met us in Columbus and we had a picnic at the pavilion outside the pool. It was nice to just relax a little. The boys loved eating lunch food for dinner.
Finally, we swam again for about an hour. All the boys were excited to have daddy swim with them because I am not nearly as fun as he is in the pool. Evan was wearing his Power Ranger floater suit that Uncle Jeff had bought for Brendan a few years back. Evan even jumped off the side without me holding him and went under the water. For him that is a huge step! The evening ended with Brendan and Evan watching their favorite summer show, Wipeout. --Andrew was in trouble in his room =( -- However, it was still a great day.

Sounds like a great day! Congrats to Evan on his big jump! Yes, my kids had to get the chicken pox booster too - a surprise to all of us but heavily recommended if not mandatory. My kids love Wipeout too!
